City of Newburgh, November 24, 2013 – The Newburgh Professional & Business Association (NPBA) today announced its endorsement of and participation in the fourth annual Small Business Saturday on November 30th. Created by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Celebrated every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the day has given small businesses across the country a huge boost.
Recognizing the importance of supporting small independently-owned businesses in our community, NPBA is pleased to announce our support for Small Business Saturday and its Neighborhood Champion program. The greater Newburgh area is encouraged to take part in our Small Business Saturday Shop Local Festivities on November 30th. The event takes place from 12 noon to 5:00 PM at Broadway and Liberty Streets. Stop by to support small businesses and pick up some Shop Small giveaways. Other event details include street performances by student artists, Holiday Decorating Contest kickoff and the parking meter fees are suspended.
The City of Newburgh has over 200 retail establishments who are primarily family owned businesses. Small Business Saturday is a great opportunity to showcase the vast array of products and services available to consumers. The Shop Small festivities celebrate community and by encouraging support of local businesses.
